READY FOR ICE CREAM
Snowman ice cream stand set to open Saturday for its 66th season
TROY, N.Y. >> Longtime local ice cream stand The Snowman will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday for its 66th season.
The business, located at 531 Fifth Ave., has been serving sweet treats to the Troy community since the early 1950s — producing all of its hard ice cream, yogurts and sherbets on premises daily.
While continuing a beloved and long-running tradition, The Snowman is also introducing some new products for 2019.
“This year we are expanding our vegan offerings,” said manager Meg Clemente, who is starting her 13th season at The Snowman. ‘Froconut’ is the product we introduced last year and sold super well. It’s a coconut milk based product which is vegan and dairy free. We will be introducing new flavors as well as offering more than one flavor at a time for more variety.”
Additionally, a new flavor of hard ice cream called Chocolate Amaretto Cheesecake announced on social media ahead of the season, is already getting a lot of buzz.
Customers will get to try their first taste or these new flavors, or order their usual favorites once again, on Saturday when The Snowman opens for yet another season.
