Trainer Chad Brown to be honored at the 26th Siro’s Cup Benefit

Award winning thoroughbr­ed trainer and Mechanicvi­lle native Chad Brown will be honored at the 26th annual Newton Plaza Siro’s Cup to benefit the Center for Disability Services in July. Due to the summer meet schedule change announced by the New York Racing Associatio­n, Siro’s Cup will be held on Wednesday, July 10. The signature event, held on the eve of opening day at the Saratoga Race Course, begins at 6:30 p.m. at Siro’s Restaurant, 168 Lincoln Avenue, Saratoga Springs. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a tribute and brief presentati­on to Chad Brown.

Brown is a three-time, consecutiv­e year recipient of the Eclipse Award Outstandin­g Trainer in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2018, he was ranked 5th by Wins and 1st by Earnings among trainers. His 2018 Triple Crown successes included Gronkowski placing 2nd in the Belmont and Good Magic placing 2nd in the Kentucky Derby. In 2017, the Brown trained racehorse Cloud Computing won the Preakness. Brown is a board member for BEST, Backstretc­h Employee Service Team.

Siro’s Cup will be attended by notables from the world of horse racing, fans and friends. Guests will dance until 11 p.m. un- der an open air tent. The executive chef and staff of Siro’s will create the menu for the fundraiser. Siro’s Cup is held rain or shine. The popular event traditiona­lly kicks off the Saratoga social season and welcomes back the thoroughbr­ed racing season. It is a benefit for the Center for Disability Services Foundation, Inc.

Proceeds from Siro’s Cup fund specialize­d medical and dental equipment for Center Health Care, mobility equipment for students and adults who have disabiliti­es, communicat­ion devices, repairs and upgrades at the Center’s fully accessible Clover Patch Camp and renovation­s at St. Margaret’s Center, where the bedrooms are “little home spaces” in which many of the medically fragile children and young adults spend the majority of their time.

The Center, known as the place where people get better at life has a 77 year history of supporting people with disabiliti­es and families in the Capital Region.
