Troy man sentenced for reckless endangerment
ALBANY, N.Y. » Albany County District Attorney David Soares announced Richard Bean, 50, of Troy, was sentenced to three to six years in state prison.
On Aug. 10, 2017, officers from the Albany Police Department received information from the New York State Depa r t ment of Corrections and Community Supervision that Bean was wanted as a prison release absconder and was given a description of Bean’s vehicle.
On that date, around 7:43 p.m., while traveling around the City of Albany, officers observed Bean driving a vehicle matching the description and attempted to stop the vehicle. Police said Bean fled and continued recklessly driving at a high rate of speed, at times more than 100 miles per hour, in and out of traffic, causing pedestrians and motorists to take evasive actions to avoid being struck.
Given the danger Bean posed to the public, officers called off the pursuit. Bean
was later taken into custody and charged in relation to the incident.
On Nov. 14, 2018, Bean pleaded guilty to one count of first- degree felony reckless endangerment. Bean then ab-
sconded from parole and committed additional parole violations while out of custody pending a formal sentencing proceeding, and was ultimately sentenced to three to six years by the court.
