American Red Cross seeking ‘Real Heroes’

ALBANY, N.Y. » The American Red Cross of Northeaste­rn New York is looking for nominees for their “Real Heroes” program. Selected nominees will be honored at the Real Heroes Breakfast on Oct. 29.

Do you know an individual or group in the greater Capital Region who has made a lifesaving impact in their community during the last year? Nominate them to be recognized by the Red Cross for their extraordin­ary service and bravery.

“We are fortunate in our community to have many amazing examples of lives being saved by ordinary people who find the courage to act in the face of emergencie­s,” said Gary Striar, Regional CEO for the American Red Cross. “These Real Heroes embody the Red Cross mission, and so we strive to seek out and celebrate their stories each year.”

Past Real Heroes include two police officers whose CPR training saved a 6-month- old baby, a young manwho helped rescue car crash survivors, and a father and son duo who have collective­ly donated over 20 gallons of life- saving blood.

Any individual or group who has acted heroically to help change or save a life in the greater Capital Region

may be nominated.

must be received by Aug. 31.

The Real Heroes Breakfast will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy. Join host Saratogian and Troy Record columnist John Gray of NEWS10 ABC, along with event

chairs Kate Otis and Laura Petrovic, to help the Red Cross celebrate the 2019 Real Heroes. Tickets are available now.
