On Saturday and Sunday, the fair’s calf birthing center will be back for its second year, with six mother dairy cows from Woody Hill Farm in Salem. “It’s going to be an opportunity for people to be able to witness the miracle of life,” said Rebecca Breese, the fair’s marketing coordinator. “In Washington County we have an amazing dairy industry that we take a lot of pride in, so we’re pretty excited to have this opportunity where dairy farmers, people involved in the dairy industry, have come together to bring this to the fair We’re very grateful for all of the work that they’ve put into it.”

Other anticipated fair highlights are local band Big Sky Country’s Saturday night concert, the Region’s Got Talent contest finale on Friday, and the demolition derby on Monday and Sunday.

Fair food is always a favorite aspect of the fair as well. “One thing that a lot of people don’t realize is that a lot of our food vendors that come here use use local agricultural products,” Breese said, “so by eating here at the fair you’re actually supporting our local agriculture industry.”

Looking forward to the week ahead, “The Washington County Fair is a landmark agricultural event here in Washington County and frankly in the Capital Region,” Breese continued. “One thing that’s special about our fair is it’s a place where you can take your family. You can come experience all the magic a fair has to offer.”
