LABOR DAY CELEBRATION: Annual Solidarity Labor Day Celebration to be Held September 2nd in Colonie. For over 35years, the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District has hosted a Labor Day Celebration for all workers who earn a paycheck. Please come celebrate labor with us on Monday, September 2, 2019, from noon to 4:30PM at the Cook Park Pavilion in the Village of Colonie. Hamburgers and hotdogs, both meat and vegetarian as well as soft drinks will be provided. Bring a potluck dish to pass if you can. This is a zero wast event. TION: The Hoosick Falls Senior Center, 69Church Street, will host will host Jillian Ludwig, Community Nutrition Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension for our monthly Eat Smart – Live Strong cooking demonstration on Tuesday, September 3at 11:00. There will be free recipes and samples for

The Poestenkill Seniors hold weekly meetings every Tuesday at 1p.m. at the Sullivan Jones VFW Post in Poestenkill. All seniors are welcome. The Poestenkill Seniors hold catered luncheons, clamsteams and fish fries at the hall and also at various restaurants. Best of all they go on bus trips to casinos and other points of interest.

MEETING: The Town of Pittstown Seniors meet the first Wednesday of the month. Our next meeting is September 4, 2019. We meet at the Raymertown Volunteer Fire Dept on Mason Lane in Raymertown. TACONIC CREST TRAIL:
Saturday, September 7, 9am – 2pm, Taconic Crest Trail in One Year Robinson Hollow, Stephentown. This 6mile hike from Robinson Hollow in Stephentown NY to Madden Road in Hancock MA is our shortest section, but has a long steep ascent and descent at either end. The trail passes through hardwood forests, and grassy knolls. For those aiming to complete the entire trail, there is a 2.1mile section along roads between the Madden Road and Potter Road trailheads; this section can be hiked on your own, or before the following hike. We will hike the entire 37 miles of the Taconic Crest Trail over the course of the year in six separate trips. This beautiful ridgetop trail winds through New York, Massachusetts, and a corner of Vermont, from North Petersburg to near New Lebanon. Join us for any or all sections. Complete the entire trail and receive a patch from the Taconic Hiking Club. All hikes have long steep uphill and/or downhill sections over rocky ground. Wear boots or sturdy shoes. OLD FASHIONED SUNDAY: The Friends of Pruyn House will celebrate our 36th anniversary this year! Come join us for our annual “Old Fashioned Sunday” at the Pruyn House, 207Old Niskayuna Rd., Latham NY, on Sunday September 8th from 12noon to 4pm. The public is invited to this free event which will be held rain or shine. Old Fashioned Sunday is a festive fun day in a lovely setting at this 5 1⁄2 acre site. The historic house built between 1825 and 1830will be open for touring. The day will feature music throughout the afternoon featuring three different bands from the Town of Colonie. A number of attractions are planned including Old Tyme craft demonstrations such as a one-room schoolhouse costumed re-enactment, sheep-shearer and blacksmith. Our Buhrmaster Barn will be filled with vendors. Visit the beautiful gardens and other outbuildings such as the Tool Museum and Carriage House. For children, there will be pony rides, face painting, a storyteller, a magician, an art show, wandmaking and live animals. There will be homemade baked goods as well as vendors selling hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, veggieburgers, soda, ice cream and popcorn. We will also have George’s Market, flowers by Fort Orange Garden Club, dried floral arrangements by Blue Creek Garden Club and a caricaturist!
