Albany Can Code announces course schedule
TROY, N.Y. » Albany Can Code, a nonprofit focused on creating a new generation of software coders in the Capital Region, recently announced its most ambitious course schedule to date.
Registration for its Fall 2019, the largest- ever course schedule is underway and filling rapidly for four classes, the most offered simultaneously since the nonprofit’s launch in 2016.
Beginning Sept. 16, Albany Can Code will host separate classes in JavaScript Fundamentals and SQL/ETL, both in Schenectady, and two classes in Front End Web Development, one in Albany and the other in Wilton.
All courses are held two nights per week, three hours per session, for 12 weeks. Further information and registration for each can be found at https://albanycancode. org/for-students/courses.
“The interest in our programs, both from prospective students and potential employers, is exceeding our expectations and driving us to quickly ramp up the opportunities to participate,” said Annmarie Lanesey, founder and CEO of Albany Can Code, in a news release. “We are thrilled to be preparing local residents for exciting and lucrative careers in technology, while also helping to build a talent pipeline in our region that enables companies to succeed and grow.”
Classes in JavaScript Fundamentals, the dominant scripting tool for front end web development, and SQL/EQL, which is used for database and analytical software, will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at The Kindl Building in partnership with SUNY Schenectady.
The Front End Web Development course, which teaches technical skills necessary for user interface ( UI) development and wire framing, will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Capital South Campus Center in Albany in partnership with Capital Region BOCES, and Mondays and Wednesdays at the Wilton Center at SUNY Adirondack in partnership with the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership.
All classes run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and conclude in midDecember.
A Front End Web Development Course Info Session will be held at 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at SUNY Adirondack Saratoga, located at 696 U.S. 9 in Gansevoort. This is where a presentation will be made about the course, and people can have questions answered.
