Albany VegFest to take place Sunday
ALBANY, Vegan Network N.Y. » Capital will host Region its
11th annual Albany VegFest this weekend in the Capital City.
Albany VegFest is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday,
Sept. 8 at Albany Capital Center, located at 55 Eagle Street in
Albany. Admission is free. Suggested donations of $5 are welcome.
The event is a family-friendly, vegan festival with more than
100 regional and national exhibitors showcasing vegan and plant-based products and services along with a diverse group of speakers and entertainers sharing information and resources on the topics of health and wellness, animal rights, and environmental sustainability, including a keynot address by Haile V. Thomas.
One of the local vendors at this year’s VegFest will be new Troy store The Vegan Outfitter, owned and operated by Susan and Jed Civic. “Having been vegans for 27+ years, we have watched the vegan community grow exponentially,” they said.
“As the first shoes and accessories store in upstate NY, we are proud to be a contributing part of this remarkable movement. The Albany Vegfest is wonderful this compassionate opportunity and to promote socially conscious lifestyle.” As the area’s largest celebration of all things vegan, this local event will feature a children’s zone, VegFest PLUS lounge and free commemorative reusable grocery bags for the first 100 attendees. All are invited to come enjoy a variety of vegan foods while learning about plant-based living. The event is organized by Capital Region Vegan Network, the area’s largest and longestrunning local not-for-profit empowering the Capital Region to adopt and maintain a vegan lifestyle through outreach, education, support, and advocacy.
