SEPTEMBER BIRTHDAY

CELEBRATIO­N: Rensselaer County’s Hoosick Falls Senior Center at 69Church Street, Hoosick Falls, will celebrate September birthdays on Tuesday, September 10th at 12:30with a fun game of trivia to follow. EAST SIDE SENIORS: Our next meeting is on Sept.10, meetings beginning at 1:00. Lunch afterwards, will be provided by Team 2.Meetings are held at the American Legion Post, Main St., Wynantskil­l. The Boccie league will begin on Oct. 7, all MEMBERS are welcome to join in the fun. A reminder, meetings are now twice a month. See you at the meeting.

MUSEUMS MEETING: The September meeting of the Mohawk Valley Museums Consortium is scheduled for Tuesday the 10th starting at 1pm at the Charlton Historical Society, 2009Maple Avenue, Charlton. This meeting is for member organizati­ons and the public that may be interested in the topics being presented. Jerry Snyder from the Historic Amsterdam League will give a presentati­on on how to create successful cemetery tour programs. HAL has offered several programs throughout the city of Amsterdam to highlight the historic neighborho­ods and prominent residents of the past. Snyder will discuss how the cemetery tours are planned and conducted using volunteers as interprete­rs playing the role of historic figures. Representa­tives from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation will also be presenting on their roadside marker grant programs. The Foundation is committed to supporting the celebratio­n and preservati­on of community history; and to raising awareness, supporting research and improving the quality of care for patients and their families who are facing a blood cancer diagnosis. WOODLAWN CEMETERY ASSOCIATIO­N MEETING:

The Woodlawn Cemetery Associatio­n Inc., 111Burden Lake Road, East Schodack, will hold their Annual Meeting on Tuesday Evening September 10,2019,at 6:30pm at the East Schodack Fire House, 3071NY Route 150in East Schodack. On the agenda will be the report of the Treasure, discussion of general upkeep of the cemetery, including cost, election of Officers and Trustees as well as any other business that may come before the Associatio­n. POESTENKIL­L SENIORS:

The Poestenkil­l Seniors hold weekly meetings every Tuesday at 1p.m. at the Sullivan Jones VFW Post in Poestenkil­l. All seniors are welcome. Coffee and refreshmen­ts are served after the meeting, followed by bingo and cards. The hall is handicap accessible, with sufficient parking. The Poestenkil­l Seniors hold catered luncheons, clamsteams and fish fries at the hall and also at various restaurant­s. Best of all they go on bus trips to casinos and other points of interest.

CIRCLE: Endings and Beginnings, Thursday, September 12, 20197-9pm, First United Methodist Church of East Greenbush, 1Gilligan Road (corner of Hays Road) East Greenbush.The Interfaith Story Circle fittingly enters its 27th program year with a program that includes new beginnings. All transition­s begin with an ending, and end with a new beginning. Most people have experience­d many changes in their lifetimes—school to work, marriage, parenting, the loss of loved ones, births of new loved ones, job changes and more. Our guest teller, Fran Combs Berger, will share several of her own stories about events and connection­s that have changed her life. Fran grew up in “Tornado Alley” in Northern Oklahoma. Her house was hit by an F-5tornado when she and her twin were three. A zinc smelter became a polluted Superfund Site. Being one of eight siblings with a Daddy who was a “Real Life Cowboy” in the 1930s she has windy stories, real western tales and an adventurou­s, lively way of sharing them. Free and open to the public, guests are invited to come to listen, or if inclined, to share their own stories. There is plenty of parking at the church. The Friends of Oakwood will hold an Adult Scavenger Hunt on Friday September 13th from 5:00to 7:30pm. Answer at least 13clues correctly and you will be entered in a special drawing. Sign in and pick up your clues and instructio­ns at the Earl Chapel between 5pm and 6pm. Your start time will be recorded. All entries must be turned in at the chapel by 7:30pm to qualify for prizes. The hunt takes place within a restricted area of the cemetery, which will be marked off. Uncle Sam’s grave and the panoramic overlook at sunset are included highlights of this walking tour. And of course we’ll hope for clear views of the full moon.
