Chamber presents ‘Good News Awards’ to four businesses
TROY, N.Y. » The Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce is presenting its annual “Good News Awards” to four local businesses.
Together with Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin, the Chamber is visiting each of the four Rensselaer County-based businesses to present them with their awards.
This year’s winners are: The Eastwick Press, Passport for Good, Next Advance and Windy Hill Orchard.
The criteria considered for the selection of these four businesses helped identify organizations that make significant impacts on both the economic advancement of Rensselaer County and the quality of life for its residents. The award recipients also represent businesses that are exemplary corporate citizens that focus on being community partners with a demonstrated commitment to reinvesting in our region. The 2019 Good News Award recipients are as follows:
• The Eastwick Press (Cropseyville, NY) – this weekly newspaper specializes in providing quality reporting on events that shape, challenge and knit together communities. The newspaper covers eight localities.
• Next Advance (Pittstown, NY) – a designer and manufacturer of cutting- edge laboratory instruments for the life sciences. The company’s leading product line allows researchers to study DNA as they search for the cures of many diseases.
• Passport for Good ( Troy, NY) – creator of software that features a website and mobile app where users, primarily students at the high school level, can chronicle their journeys of community service. The platform seeks to promote and unify a network of volunteerism in local communities.
• Windy Hill Orchard (Castleton, NY) – a family- owned apple orchard rooted in tradition. With a robust selection of local offerings, this orchard caters to families and inspires visitors to learn more about the significant impact of local agriculture.
“Each of this year’s Good News Award recipients offers inspiring examples of what community-focused business success truly looks like,” President of the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce Kate Manley said in a news release.
“We’re incredibly honored to recognize each of these businesses and thank them for their continued commitments to the betterment of Rensselaer County,” Manley added.
“From high-tech to agriculture, and from main street to the global economy, this is an incredibly deserving group of award recipients,” Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin said in the release.
“These four organizations represent the very best of the vibrant business community that we’re fortunate to have here in Rensselaer County,” McLaughlin added.
