Newest local Beef Jerky Outlet unveiled
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » Beef jerky is now available on Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs since the opening of the newest local Beef Jerky Outlet.
Located at 514 Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs, Beef Jerky Outlet opened on Black Friday in the Algonquin Building space formerly occupied by Comic Depot.
The local Beef Jerky Outlet store offers 36 varieties of bagged beef jerky, including popular flavors like Cajun BBQ and prime rib. Other kinds of jerky available at the shop include venison, elk, buffalo, duck, pheasant and salmon, as well as exotic game like kangaroo, alligator and ostrich. Vegan jerky is available too.
Samples of all products are available in the store, which also carries popcorn, peanuts, jams, jellies, hot sauces and old fashioned candies.
“We’re really like a country store in 2019,” said co- owner Cory Leggiero said.
In all of its offerings, “We try to be different,” said co- owner Tim Kinally. “A lot of the stuff we have here, you’re not going to find anywhere else.”
While Beef Jerky Outlet is a franchise with more than 200 locations nationwide, the local business is owned and operated by brothers Michael and Tim Kinnally, along with Leggiero.
Michael, who was the first to venture into the beef jerky business after discovering the franchise while vacationing in South Carolina, opened New York state’s first Beef Jerky Outlet in Latham in 2017.
“He kind of fell in love with the whole idea of the franchise,” Michael’s brother Tim explained. “So he came home and he vowed to open one.”
Now the Latham store and the new Saratoga Springs are both owned by the three partners, who run the business with their families.
Leading up to this more recent expansion, “We have looked at Saratoga Springs from the start,” Tim said. “The three of us have talked about a Saratoga store from the beginning.”
For the past two years, they’ve been trying to secure the right location until finally moving into the Broadway storefront last month.
The Spa City store will serve as headquarters for the growing business, which participates in many off-site fairs, festivals and other events.
“This is our home store,” Tim declared. “We’ve been striving to be here. This is where we want to be, and this is our home base.”
The owners anticipate quickly becoming part of the local scene. “The cool part about Saratoga is you get to be a part of the community. We’re part of downtown. We’re here to be part of it,” Leggiero said. “We’re just excited about this whole venture.”
“We definitely want to work with the community,” Tim added, noting Saratoga’s small town city feel.
The trio is excited to be part of upcoming events like Saratoga Chowderfest.
Following the Victorian Streetwalk earlier this month, Beef Jerky Outlet is already seeing some repeat customers.
Shoppers who stop in when
Tim, Michael or Leggiero are around can expect to have a conversation. “I love the interaction here with people,” Tim said. “We’re all personable, so we have a great time.”
Looking ahead to the future, Beef Jerky Outlet plans to offer local products including wine and cheese, and become a place where people like to come hang out.
“Our goal is really to be an established, active part of Broadway,” Tim said.
Beef Jerky Outlet in Saratoga Springs is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The store will be closed on Christmas Day.
The business plans to have a grand opening event during the last weekend in January.
