Three arrested in prostitution sting

- Staff report

COLONIE, N.Y. » Looking for love in all the wrong places. The Colonie Police Department Special Investigations Unit made three arrests Thursday evening following a citizen complaint about prostitution activity.

The citizen complained about a prostitute working out of the Sycamore Motel at 956 Loudon Road, but after two days of unsuccessful attempts to contact her, she did respond to undercover investigators and it was learned that she had moved to the Golden Circle Motel at 706 Loudon Road.

Undercover investigators arranged via text message to pay $100 for sex with Annie L. Emery, 36, of Glens Falls, and while the room was under surveillance observed the other two defendants, Glenn R. Massoth Jr., 31, of Waterford, and David P. Hopeck, 64, of Rensselaer, exit Emery’s room and use drugs in a vehicle in the lot, according to police.

Police say Emery was arrested in room 18 and found to have heroin in her posses

sion and was also found to be wanted by the Troy Police Department. Emery was charged with prostitution and seventh- degree criminal possession of a

controlled substance.

Massoth and Hopeck were arrested in the lot and a crack pipe was recovered from Hopeck, according to police. Hopeck was charged with seventhdegree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first- degree loitering.

Police say Massoth lied about his identity to prevent the discovery of two warrants for his arrest out of Troy and Waterford. Massoth, was charged with second- degree criminal impersonation and first- degree loitering.

All defendants were issued appearance tickets

for Colonie Justice Court on March 4, 2020 at 6 p.m.

Troy police and Waterford police were unable to respond to pick up the defendants on their outstanding warrants. The arrests occurred at the Golden Circle Motel 706 Loudon Road on Feb. 13 at 11:45 p.m. vigilant in finding answers to why this tragic event occurred,” Deputy Troy Police Chief Dan DeWolf said in a news release on Saturday.

DeWolf said this case had immediately been assigned to detectives, and it remains under investigation.

The case is being treated as a suspicious death at this time, according to city police.
