Saint Rose falls at Southern Connecticu­t, 56-46

NEW HAVEN, CONN. » The College of Saint Rose fell 56- 46 in this afternoon’s Northeast-10 Conference game at Southern Connecticu­t State.

Junior forward Nina Fedul lo ( Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam) led the Golden Knights (7-18/2-16 NE10) with 14 points on 7- of-13 shooting. She secured 15 rebounds to register her tenth “double- double” of the season. Senior guard Takora McIntyre ( Boston, Mass./ Fenway/ Temple) added ten points a team-high five assists, while sophomore guard Becca Townes ( Poughkeeps­ie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) contribute­d ten points and a game-high four steals.

Southern Connecticu­t State ( 10-17/4-14 NE10) used an 11-2 second period run across 6:33 to take a 31-25 lead into the break. Saint Rose continued to keep the NE10 matinee close throughout the third quarter, before the Owls opened the final stanza on a 13- 4 run to gain some breathing room.

Junior forward Jessica Fressle, one of three SCSU players to net double figures, led the victors with 19 points on 8- of-15 shooting.

The NE10 regular season concludes on Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Saint Rose hosts American Internatio­nal on “Senior Night”. Fans that are unable to make it to Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium to attend the game can watch all the action live on the NE10 NOWNetwork. Meanwhile, Southern Connecticu­t State travels to Garden City, N.Y. to face No. 10/6 Adelphi.

Saint Rose Athletics will recognize senior forward Leah Dollard (Albany, N.Y./ Albany), McIntyre, and senior guard Cameron Graupman (Rochester, N.Y./ Hilton) for their contributi­ons to the women’s basketball program before Tuesday’s game…Fedullo tops the Golden Knights with 12.0 points per game on the year...She entered the weekend fifth in the NE10 with 8.5 rebounds a game...Dollard and Townes contribute 11.5 and 10.1 ppg respective­ly.
