COLONIE, N.Y. » The Colonie Police Department Patrol Division says it recovered two illegal guns and made several arrests following pro-active patrols of the motels in Colonie.

On Feb. 20, at 10 p.m. Patrol officers Ryan Berkery and Austin Blais observed a red 2019 Mitsubishi going in and out of motels on Wolf Road. When the driver allegedly committed a traffic violation, they stopped the vehicle on Wolf Road near 50 Wolf Rd.

When the officers exited their patrol vehicle, they say the driver sped off and led the officers on a short slowspeed pursuit that ended on the Northway northbound by Exit 2w when other officers were able to box in the vehicle.

The driver Sharif D. Sabb, 19, of Troy, was arrested for his alleged actions during the chase and was also found to be in possession of small amounts of cocaine and marijuana, according to police.

Sabb was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, seventh- degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, third- degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana and one traffic infraction.

The follow-up investigation led to the Red Roof Inn, 188 Wolf Rd., where the vehicle was observed leaving. Occupants of room 335 were interviewed about the ownership of the vehicle, that was originally stopped, and were subsequently found to have a loaded (1 in chamber and 5 in magazine) Jennings J-22LR .22 handgun, according to police. Both oc

cupants, Jayquan M. Gary, 20, of Albany, and Kayla M. Mercer, 21, of St. Johnsville, were arrested for illegally possessing the handgun.

On Feb. 24 at 11:43 p.m., Patrol officers Connor Anson and Ryan Howe checked on an occupied blue 1999 Oldsmobile in the lot of the Motel 6 1600 Central Avenue.

The three occupants were interviewed and a back seat passenger Dellaney Wallace, 43, of Albany, was found to possess a loaded .22 rifle with the serial # defaced and barrel cut down for concealment and cocaine, according to police. Police say the front seat occupants Robert A. Breedlove, 48, of Rensselaer, and Victoria Plaza, 36, of Rensselaer, were found to be in possession of cocaine and a cocaine pipe.
