Watervliet man facing multiple charges after backing into patrol car
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. » A Watervliet man was arrested on multiple drug possession charges, unlicensed operation and resisting arrest after backing into a New York State police patrol car.
Christopher A. Morris, 38, was interviewed by state police after he struck a patrol car while he was backing out of a parking space at Jolly Gas in Queensbury. A trooper fueling his patrol car saw Morris pulling out of a parking spot. The trooper called to Morris to get his attention, but was unable to stop him from backing into the troop car’s push bumper.
The patrol car was not damaged.
Morris did not have identification and refused to identify himself, telling the trooper that he did not have a license. Morris was found to be in possession of approximately 1 gram of cocaine, several glassine bags containing a brown powder believed to be heroin, a hypodermic needle, several digital scales with drug residue, and marijuana.
He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance fifth degree, a felony, criminal use of drug paraphernalia second degree, aggravated unlicensed operation second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, obstruction of governmental administration second degree, possession of a hypodermic instrument, and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, all misdemeanors.
Further investigation confirmed Morris’ identity, and that he had three outstanding warrants. He was arraigned in Warren County Centralized Arraignment Part and remanded to Warren County Jail. He is due back in court on a later date.
