Boys & Girls Clubs of Capital area providing mobile meal delivery

- By Record staff

TROY, N.Y. » Starting on Friday, April 3, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area (BGCCA) expanded their meal delivery service and begin providing families with an extra breakfast and lunch for the weekend.

Serving more than 22,000 meals in the Capital Region since the program began on March 18, BGCCA’s food service continues to grow with community demand and has gone from serving 800 meals daily to 2,000 meals. In addition, BGCCA has partnered with local agencies to provide families with2020census information alongside their meals.

Serving both youth and families, meals continue to be delivered throughmobile delivery sites. These meals are available for pick up at 11 Albany & Troy housing complexes locations from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

While resources have been secured to feed youth up to 18 years old, serving families requires additional financial support. As a result, BGCCA is asking the community for support through ago fund me which can be found at: https://www.gofundme. com/f/help-feed-our-youth?utm_ source= cu st om er&u tm_ medium=copy_ link-tip& utm_ c amp aign=p_cp+ share-sheet.

All funds collected will be used for the following:

1) To provide breakfast and lunch for children and families in need.

2) To meet additional needs of youth, families and individuals within the Capital Area.

To help distribute the meals, BGCCA is seeking 2-3 volunteers per site. If community members are interested in volunteering, please contact Program & Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator,
