- Staff report

ALBANY, N.Y. » The county only saw one new COVID-19 case on Sunday.

There have been 1,827 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Albany County to date.

Additionally, there are now 378 people under mandatory quarantine and 4 people under precautionary quarantine. The five- day average for new daily positive cases is down to 4.4. So far, 5,251 individuals have completed quarantine, with 1,608 of them having tested positive and recovered.

No one passed away overnight. The death toll remains at 118 since the outbreak began. There are currently 10 individuals hospitalized. The hospitalization rate remains at 0.54%. There are still no individuals currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“People are doing the right thing by staying home or when they go out, by wearing masks, social distancing, coughing into their elbows and washing their hands frequently. The numbers are showing this,” Albany County Executive Dan McCoy said in a news release on Sunday. “The virus hasn’t gone away but by being vigilant, we are protecting ourselves and others and have slowed the spread.

“This is particularly important as we prepare to move into Phase 3 on Wednesday. With more people going back to work and interacting in person, we need to keep our guard up and continue to get people tested.”

McCoy continues to highlight the testing site in Albany County at Priority 1 Urgent Care, which is now also providing antibody testing, located in Hamilton Square at 2080 Western Ave. in Guilderland. The partnership was made possible by Albany County supply

ing the facility with critical personal protective equipment for the staff and supplemental test kits. Testing will be reimbursed by an individual’s health insurance and will be done by appointments only after patients come in to be screened for expanded CDC symptoms. Priority 1 is also now doing antibody testing. To schedule an appointment, you can call (518) 867-8040.

McCoy also encourages those who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms to register for the drive-thru community testing site at Rite Aid, 1863 Central Ave. in Colonie. Testing is free for those who are eligible based on CDC guidelines and are at least 18 years old. It’s available between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., seven days a week by appointment only.

Registration is now available at www.riteaid.com. Tests will be conducted from within an individual’s car with self-swab nasal tests and with the help of a pharmacist.
