Capital Region COVID-19 update as Phase 4begins

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. » With Phase 4 of the state’s reopening plan underway, the area Capital Region counties released their latest Novel Coronaviru­s (COVID-19) data on Wednesday.

In Saratoga County, there have been 551 total positive cases, 16 active, with 519 recovered cases. There are currently no individual­s hospitaliz­ed, and fatalities remained at 17 from the start of the pandemic.

Officials note the deaths, recovered cases and active cases, when added together, do not equal the total number of confirmed positive cases because one of the previously reported deaths happened out of the state but was never counted as a confirmed case within the county.

To date, 2,741 individual­s have been in isolation or quarantine, with the active total at 202. To date, 23,599 county residents have been tested.

Clifton Park has 125 total confirmed cases, followed by Halfmoon with 83. Saratoga Springs has 61, with Wilton following with 40. Malta has a total of 35 total confirmed cases, with Moreau having 33. Milton has 23, followed by Mechanicvi­lle (20) and Ballston (19).

The Town of Waterford has 17 total cases, followed by Northumber­land (14), Greenfield (12), Stillewate­r (11), town of Corinth (10), Galway (9), South Glens Falls (9), Ballston Spa (7), town of Saratoga (5), Schuylervi­lle (5), Round

Lake (3), Charlton (2), Hadley (2), Providence (2), Waterford (2) and Corinth (1).

Meanwhile, four new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed to the Rensselaer County Health Department, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.

The four new cases bring the total number of confirmed cases in the county to 602. There are now 36 active cases in the county, following five cases cleared for recovery on Wednesday. There have been 536 cases cleared to date.

The new cases include:

• A new case involving a 16-year- old Hoosick girl.

• A new case involving a 50-year-old Nassau man.

• A new case involving a 47-year- old Schodack woman.

• A new case involving a 32-year- old Troy man.

There are now two residents in the hospital for COVID-19, including one in the ICU. There are now 146 residents in monitor quarantine.

In Albany County, Executive Dan McCoy, as of Wednesday morning , said there have been 1,901 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Albany County, an increase of six since Tuesday.

Additional­ly, there are 197 people under mandatory quarantine. The fiveday average for new daily positive cases is 4.2. Presently there are 31 active cases of COVID-19. Thus far, 5,752 people have completed quarantine, with 1,870 of them having tested positive and recovered.

Currently five people are hospitaliz­ed, up one since Tuesday, and the hospitaliz­ation rate is .at 0.26%, up slightly since 0.21% Tuesday. One person remains in the ICU.
