Emily was the daughter of Emil Brunner, the last civilian lighthouse keeper, who served as keeper from 1930to 1949. The Brunner family lived at the lighthouse during much of the 1930s before moving to Athens. Son Robert, was born on the lighthouse. Until 2015, Emily was often at tours and able to regale visitors with many colorful tales of life on the lighthouse. Sadly, Emily and her brother Bob have recently passed away. The tour gives you the opportunity to learn about the important role the Hudson River played in the development of the Upper Hudson River towns, and how the lighthouse made navigation safe along the river to allow development to take place. For more about the history and preservation of the lighthouse, please visit the website hudsonathens
lighthouse.org. Please check our FaceBook page or call us if you have specific questions that day. Reservations are recommended and can be made online at HudsonCruises.com or by calling (888) 766-1844. Please visit their website to see the variety of cruise opportunities they provide.

Emily was the daughter of Emil Brunner, the last civilian lighthouse keeper, who served as keeper from 1930 to 1949. For more about the history and preservation of the lighthouse, please visit the website hudsonathenslighthouse.org. Please check our FaceBook page or call us if you have specific questions that day.
