‘Parents Night Out’ during Troy Night Out

TROY, N.Y. » This Troy Night Out shop, dine and explore downtown Troy both in-person and online. Mild summer evenings call for safely distanced strolls, a little live music, and a glass of wine outdoors this Friday, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and beyond.

This Troy Night Out, before the start of the school year, the BID celebrates the parent figures in our lives with “Parents Night Out.”

With the pandemic and public health and safety in mind, enjoy the last Friday of the month in person or virtually with personaliz­ed in-store shopping and outdoor dining, plus online shopping opportunit­ies and delivery, takeout, and curbside pick-up from your favorite downtown shops and restaurant­s.

“Take a much- needed date night away from the kids and make your way to downtown Troy for a safely distanced night on the town!” said Katie Hammon, executive director of the Downtown Troy Business Improvemen­t District. “Stroll around safely and enjoy late-night shopping, free live music, art, outdoor dining, and a movie alongside Summer Square.

“Not only is Troy Night Out a fun, safe way to enjoy Troy, it’s also a great way to support your local small business community!”

With Phase IV in place in the Capital Region, many shops and restaurant­s have opened their physical spaces with reduced occupancy for shopping and dining, curbside pickup, and delivery.

Unique gifts and experience­s are the heart of the small business boutiques, shops, and salons in downtown Troy. River Street Beat Shop will bring your parent back to the days of digging through bins while listening to some classic tunes. Chat with owner Jimmy and his extensive knowledge of Troy years past.

Organizers welcome Trojan Horse Antiques to their new location at 1 Fulton Street. Stop by and check out the quality antique furniture and home goods that owner Astri has chosen with an impeccable eye.

Troy Savings Bank Music Hall will present a live performanc­e by HEARD in their Courtyard, as part of the Troy Summer Square programs. The Photograph­y Center of the Capital Region opens back up with the exhibition appropriat­ely titled “Social Distance: Scene from Afar,” a collection of art and artifacts on the topic.

The Hallway at Second Street Studios presents “Show 6.2 Welcome to The Future,” the second part of the juried exhibition by Thomas Lail & Tara Fracaiossi. “Silver Screen Classics in the Square” featuring ‘Carnival of Souls’ returns at Monument Square. Sweet Sues will serve specialty desserts, ‘street food,’ and movie-theme concession­s with coffee drinks by Stacks Espresso Bar.

518 Craft brings back their “Black is Beautiful” Fundraiser, Part II for YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. Enjoy an Art Show curated by Thom Williams spotlighti­ng photograph­s from the Black Lives Matter Rally in downtown Troy. The event will include: an Art show for Black Lives Matter, a Curator Talk, People’s Choice Awards and a Sidewalk Chalk Street Art Contest & Presentati­on.
