Teaching Gallery at HVCC announces virtual exhibitions

TROY, N.Y. » Web-based, virtual exhibitions – the biennial Fine Arts and Digital Media Faculty Exhibit and an exhibit featuring work by Fine Arts and Digital Media alumni – will be offered for the Fall 2020 semester by The Teaching Gallery at Hudson Valley Community College.

The consecutive exhibits are titled “Home Alone 1” and “Home Alone 2,” a reference to the COVID-19 pandemic that’s kept many people mostly at home for several months, and will include work created during this period of mandated isolation. “Home Alone 1” will be available for viewing on Sept. 21 and remain accessible through Nov. 16. “Home Alone 2,” which will feature selected work in a variety of media, will follow, “opening” on Nov. 9. “Home Alone 1” artists are Justin Baker, photography; Ryan Chase Clow, photography; Milt Connors, photography; Tara Fracalossi, photography; Kyra Garrigue, video/photography; Richard Garrison, painting; William Jaeger, photography; Thomas Lail, sculpture, drawing and silkscreen; Madison LaVallee, sculpture; Tim Nerney of ENG7INE DESIGN, graphic design; Jean O’Malley, photography; Ryan Parr, painting; G.G. Roberts, painting; Linda Ryder, printmaking, and Jason Kates van Staveren, photography.

The virtual exhibitions were developed with assistance from web developers in the Information Technology Services department and the Office of Communications and Marketing, which houses the Graphics department. The Teaching Gallery is supported by the Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media Department, Cultural Affairs Program, and the college’s Foundation.

Current plans call for visitation to resume in The Teaching Gallery with all required COVID-19 safety protocols in the Spring 2020 semester, according to Fracalossi, associate professor and gallery director. An exhibit featuring work by invited artists and three, end- of-year student exhibitions are planned.
