Northeast Ski and Craft Beer Showcase returns November 2021

- Staff report

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. » The Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase, one of the nation’s longest continuously running winter sports shows, will not take place in 2020 due to ongoing health and safety concerns related to group gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, event organizers announced today.

The Showcase, which had been slated to celebrate its 59th consecutive year as the unofficial start to the winter sports season in New York’s Capital Region, will return to the Albany Capital Center in Nov. 2021.

Organizers are in the process of developing an alternative plan for this year to support the event’s many stakeholders, including winter sports retailers, mountain resorts, breweries and guests of the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase.

“The health and safety of our exhibitors and guests is obviously our top priority and the ability to host an in-person event this November is simply not possible,” said Mark Bardack, president of Ed Lewi Associates, the agency responsible for hosting the annual Showcase. “While we are disappointed in not being able to celebrate the unofficial start to winter with our thousands of loyal followers, we are working on an innovative option that will support our partners and heighten excitement for the coming winter sports season.”

The Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase had been slated to take place Nov. 6-8 at the Albany Capital Center in downtown Albany, featuring winter sports destinations from New York, Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine in addition to longtime attendee Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Among its retail partners are three traditional anchors: Alpin Haus, Potter Brothers Ski & Snowboard Shops and Steiner’s Sports. Saratoga Eagle is the event’s craft beer partner.

The Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase will provide a continuous stream of updates from its resort and retail partners on its Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages in advance of and during the upcoming season.
