Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York recruitment events slated
ALBANY, N.Y. » Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) will be hosting a series of outdoor and virtual recruitment events for interested girls and their families to experience Girl Scouts at the start of the 2020-21 Membership Year.
Girl Scouts continues to offer safe programming, allowing girls to share opinions, express ideas and try new things without fear of failure.
“Now, more than ever, Girl Scouts is playing a crucial role for girls everywhere as we continue to provide them with opportunities to connect with each other and experience different activities,” GSNENY Director of Membership, Sheri Gourley explained.
“With these events, we hope that more girls will join Girl Scouts so they may continue to learn and grow in a girl-led environment,” Gourley noted.
Outdoor recruitment events will feature self-guided activities at four GSNENY owned camps and at CampTapawingo in Plattsburgh. Registration is required as space is limited due to current guidelines.
The following outdoor events are open for registration:
Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Camp IsSho-Da in East Greenbush, 4 to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Camp Tapawingo in Plattsburgh, 4 to 6 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 15 at Camp Is- Sho-Da in East Greenbush, 4 to 6 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 17 at Camp Woodhaven in Galway, 4 to 6 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 18 at Camp Hidden Lake in Lake George, 4 to 6 p.m.
GSNENY will also proceed with its virtual event series, Discover Girl Scouts.
The events include Discover Daisies and Discover Brownies, teaching girls the basic parts of Girl Scouts such as the GS Promise and the GS Law. Other virtual programs include S’more Family Fun, an activity for the whole family to enjoy while learning how Girl Scouting impacts girls and Coffee Chats, a time for parents to speak with a membership recruiter and ask questions about memberships and Girl Scouts.
GSNENY is now welcoming girls in grades K-12 as
well as volunteers to join Girl Scouts. The council will be providing unique opportunities, which will include virtual activities and events for girls throughout 15 counties.
