ZITI DINNER FUNDRAISER: The Watervliet Senior Center will be having a ziti and meatball dinner, take-out only, at the center at 1501Broadway, on Friday October 23, 3:30-6:30pm. Without the opportunities to have the normal fundraising activities at the center throughout the year-raffles, programs, and special events-we are now planning our ONE fundraiser of the year, a Ziti and Meatball dinner. We have transformed the June spaghetti dinner into Take Out Ziti and Meatball dinners, as Ziti is better for take out! The meal will be the same as previous years, with salad, bread, cookie, but it will be take-out only for $12.00 a meal . You can pay and pre-order (preferred!) by sending a check in (made out to SSOW) and we will call you to confirm, or walkin the day of the dinner. This year, one of Watervliet’s best chefs and our greatest supporter, Tim Delisle from the Black Bear Inn will be preparing the meal! Tim prepared spaghetti and meatballs for the seniors for lunch last fall and approximately 100people came then. We hope we have a great turn-out for this event as well. When people get to the senior center, you will also have the opportunity to purchase 50⁄50 tickets and put tickets into your favorite items in a basket raffle. The raffle will be photos of the actual items set up on a table outside, and the 50⁄50 will be outside for your health and safety. Please help us with this event by

purchasing dinner and some raffles! The funds raised for this event go directly to running the senior center. ONLINE FILM DISCUSSION: Saratoga Jewish Community Arts and Temple Sinai, with a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, presents a Zoom discussion of the classic film Do the Right Thing on October 25 at 7p.m. The film explores how racial inequality drives conflict in a predominantly African American community on the hottest day of the summer. It does not provide answers to the problems it exposes. Rather, the film reflects back to its audience their own perspectives on prejudice and compliance. The film was made as the result of provocations, and so it in turn provokes. It reacts to white supremacy and paternalism with a justified rage, drawing attention to systemically racist institutions and the injustices they produce; injustices that still exist today. A panel discussion on Do the Right Thing is scheduled for October 25, 7:00p.m. Preregistration is required by calling (518) 584-8730option 2or sjca. sjcf@gmail.com to receive the Zoom website information.
