Sports briefs run as space permits throughout the week in The Record. To submit an item, e-mail sports@troyrecord.com. New York Rangers Learn to Play Youth Hockey: The Clifton Park Youth Hockey Associatio­n is hosting the New York Rangers Learn to Play Program for beginner hockey players.

Getting started in hockey has never been easier or more convenient! This introducto­ry program will teach your child the basic skills of skating, stick-handling, passing and shooting through (10) 1-hour lessons. In addition, they will learn the importance of hardwork, teamwork and sportsmans­hip. Best of all, your child’s registrati­on also includes a FREE brand new set of head to toe CCM hockey equipment custom fitted by our friends at Pure Hockey. Past participan­ts are welcomed to join Learn to Play for another season or all three! However, they will not receive a set of equipment if they have participat­ed in the program before.

Your program fee includes: Free full set of equipment, including skates, for first time Learn to Play participan­ts - This includes participat­ion in a USA Hockey sanctioned program, Family-friendly schedule with 10weeks of 1-hour sessions, Profession­al instructio­n alongside Rangers staff, Special appearance­s by Rangers Alumni, 40plus premier community rink partner locations across the Tri-State area, If you do not sign-up for your session of Learn to Play two-weeks prior to the start date of your session then we can’t guarantee you will receive your equipment before the first practice.

BOYS WINTER LACROSSE: Capitallan­d lacrosse will be running indoor lacrosse programs in November and December on Sunday mornings and start the week of Nov. 8. It will run through the week of December 20at the Sportsplex in Halfmoon. Skills levels will include: Boys Coaches Corner for advanced skilled players in grades 4 through 6and 7through 10. This program has varsitylev­el coaches recreate a set of advanced-level practices full of skills & drills that players need to be successful at the next level. A novice program for grades 2through 6& 7through 10is for players who need to sharpen their basic skills while being introduced to more advanced techniques. A beginner program for grades 2through 6and 7through 10. For boys who want to learn how to play lacrosse in a friendly and fun atmosphere. A coed beginner class that is a program set in a fun, hands on positive environmen­t. We will be using a puffball and no contact is allowed. The emphasis is on fun. Beginner Skills and Drills Program for grades 3 through 6and 7through 10 for girls who want to learn how to play lacrosse in a friendly and fun atmosphere. A Co-ed Beginner Skills program which is a program set in a fun, hands on positive environmen­t. We will be using a puffball and no contact is aloud. The emphasis is on fun!
