Thursday, Dec. 24 ARTISAN MARKET:
The beloved “Artisan Market” at Brookside Museum will be returning in 2020, running from “Small Business Saturday” Nov. 28through Dec. 24at 6 Charlton St. in Ballston Spa. The market will feature only handcrafted products created by local artisans. Everything from natural soaps and lotions to unique ornaments and jewelry to scrumptious syrups and eatables – quite simply the best our community has to offer. The 2020 hours are noon to 4p.m. on Thursdays, 11a.m. to 6p.m. on Fridays, 11a.m. to 5p.m. on Saturdays and 11a.m. to 4p.m. on Sundays. All money raised by the Artisan Market will fund Saratoga County History Center public programming and collection maintenance, ensuring that future generations of Saratogians, as well as people from around the world, will be able to learn about and enjoy our amazing, historic region.

Wednesday, Dec. 30 DRIVE THRU PANTRY:
On December 30, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany and the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York are teaming up to address food insecurity with a mass food distribution in Watervliet, NY. The food distribution, or “drive-thru pantry” is a part of Catholic Charities’ mobile outreach initiative, CC MOVE, and is an effort to provide supplemental and emergency food in areas with limited access to services at time when many are struggling. Food items provided by the Regional Food Bank will be packaged by volunteers from partnering organizations and distribution will begin at 9:30AM. The distribution is open to the public and no pre-registration is required. Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and the distribution will last until supplies are gone. In order to maintain appropriate safety and social distancing, there will be two distribution lines: a drive-through line, and a walk-in line. This event will be held from 9:30A.M. to 12:30P.M. at Watervliet High School, located at 1245 Hillside Dr., Watervliet. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021 CITY COUNCIL MEETING:
Troy City Council meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 7p.m. They typically take place in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 433River St, Troy, but are currently being held virtually via Zoom. Committee meetings are scheduled on a regular basis. Agendas and minutes for meetings are posted on the city’s website. All meetings are open to the public. At monthly regular meetings, Troy residents can discuss any issue related to the City of Troy. The city is currently live-streaming Council meetings on the Troy City Council YouTube page at www.youtube.com/troycitycouncil.

She will be discussing Climate Change Trends Over the Last 125Years In the Northeast and What Farmers Can Do to Be Resilient to Them (Jan. 13). Ed Rayburn is an Extension Specialist at West Virginia University, focusing on pasture and forage management and livestock nutrition. He will be speaking about Capturing and Converting Sunlight to Healthy Soil, Meat and Milk – It’s What Plants Do (Jan. 20). Fred Provenza is Professor Emeritus of Behavioral Ecology in the Dept. of Wildland Resources at Utah State University, where he directed an award-winning research group pioneering an understanding of learning’s influence on foraging behavior and how behavior links soil, plants, herbivores, and humans.
