Foundation to give out nearly $150,000 to local organizations
The GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation is awarding a total of 31 grants totaling $142,964 this year to benefit local organizations and community projects.
Each year, the GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation looks for projects that are creative, innovative, and inclusive in their scope and opportunities that will provide the maximum amount of benefit to the local Malta community. The foundation’s 2020 slate of grants supports a wide variety of community needs and programs.
These grants are in addition to the $50,000 grant provided in March of this year to the Town of Malta to provide local individuals and families with grocery store gift cards.
With this most recent round of grants, the foundation formed by GLOBALFOUNDRIES and the Town of Malta has placed more than $1.4 million into service in the Malta community since 2011.
The 2020 Malta grant awards were during a virtual program, during which foundation board members and organization representatives celebrated funding the following projects and programs:
• AIM Services, Inc.: $5,000 for an accessible swing set in Malta
• Association to Preserve, Protect, Plan Round Lake (AP3): $750 for musicians of Malta concert series
• Association to Preserve, Protect, Plan Round Lake (AP3): $833 for a story time concert at the Round Lake Auditorium
• Ballston Spa High School – Outdoor Club: $5,000 for “Burn Fat not Oil! – Bicycling Campaign and Equipment” – Moun
tain bikes and associated equipment for Outdoor Club activities
• Ballston Spa Jr. Baseball League:$5,000 for safety nets for the baseball field
• Beyond My Battle: $1,000 for virtual stress management workshop for local caregivers
• Chango Elementary School: $10,000 for interactive whiteboards for virtual learning on-site and remote learning
• Cornell Cooperative Extension Saratoga County: $2,500 for pollinator and butterfly at the Malta Ecological Park • Girls on The Run Capital Region: $1,620 for a Girls on the Run (GOTR) team site at the Malta YMCA
• Gordon Creek Elementary School PTA: $2,500 for a visiting author pick a reading partner program
• Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties: $3,000 for a project to update the flooring for Captain’s Youth Shelter
• Malta Avenue Elementary School PTA: $2,000 for children’s automaton vehicle engineering crates from Kiwi Kit
• Malta Avenue Elementary School PTA: $2,956 for books for “Pick a Reading Partner” (PARP) Program
• Malta Senior Citizens Inc.: $5,500 for cultural outings & luncheon events
• Malta Sunrise Rotary Club: $1,000 for Masks for Malta“stop the virus program”
• Malta Stillwater EMS: $16,500 for the purchase of airway management – ventilator
• Miss Scotties Softball: $5,000 for new field 1 dugout roofs
•Pitney Meadows Community Farm :$5,000 for farmers markets in Malta
•Rebuilding Together Sarato ga County :$10,000 for critical home repairs for low-income homeowners in the Town of Malta
• Round Lake/Malta Youth Baseball Inc .:$5,000 for replacement of back stop& fence on old baseball field
• Roundabout Runners Club: $7,500 for Luther Forest Tech Campus 100 acre wood trail updates and maintenance
• Rugrunners Robotics Inc.: $5,000 for robotic kits for the FIRST Robotics, Team 20, Shenendehowa High School Robotics Team
• Rugrunners Inc.: $4,766 for equipment and supplies to compete in FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) competition
• Saratoga Bridges: $11,852 for roof replacement project in the Malta Avenue home
• Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership: $5,000 for Malta works winter small business support
• Shenendehowa High School East: $2,187 for Epson SureColor P900 17” Photo Printer • St. Peter Lutheran Church: $5,000 for the Malta food pantry
• Town of Malta: $1,500 for winter care package
• Town of Malta Parks, Recreation & Human Services: $2,500 for the Explore the Outdoors events
• Town of Malta Safety Advisory Committee: $2,500 for LED lights for bicycle/pedestrian safety program
• United Way of the Greater Capital Region: $5,000 for summer meals in Malta
