NORTH GREENBUSH-Thomas J. Sweeney, 67, passed away on Sunday, March 07, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Troy and was the son of the late Thomas L. and Eleanor Manory Sweeney. Tom was a graduate of Troy High School and SUNY @ Plattsburg­h. He was an accomplish­ed wine and spirits profession­al with a passion for Burgundy wines. Tom began with Wine Merchants and grew with several major distributo­rs throughout his 45 year career. He had trained extensivel­y around the world, always eager to share his expertise. Tom was a serious history buff and a big fan of Notre Dame football and all New York sports teams. He enjoyed traveling and an occasional debate with his family and friends. Tom is the beloved husband of 41 years to Mary Ann (Mern) Deeb Sweeney. He is the brother of Mark (Susan) Sweeney and the late Mary Agnes Sweeney. Tom is the brother-inlaw of Joseph (Rosemary) Deeb. He is the cherished uncle of Brendan, Moira and Kieran Sweeney; Kellie (Shawn) Seabury, Joseph Deeb Jr., Albert (Tori) Deeb and Stephanie (Matt) Maes. Tom is also survived by many extended nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and friends. Tom’s family is most grateful to the kind and caring profession­als at Fresinius Care, St. Peter’s Vascular Group, Eileen Hogan NP, Dr. Mandani, Dr. Ginsberg and Dr. Kilwaja. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tom’s family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Michael the Archangel Church 175 Williams Rd. Troy. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am at St. Michael’s Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
