Sweet Mimi’s reopens with new air filter that kills COVID

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » Every time a business has to shut its doors temporarily, there’s a chance that closure could become permanent.

Within the last 12 months, far too many businesses have had to temporarily close due to the pandemic, and some have taken dangerous steps towards permanent shutdown.

“Every time you have to close, it’s thousands of dollars in inventory and payroll and overhead costs that are just gone,” said Jeannette Liebers, owner of Sweet Mimi’s Café. Sweet Mimi’s had to close multiple times during the pandemic.

Fortunately, Liebers is confident that for her, closures are a thing of the past.

Liebers’s optimism comes from the new air purification system she has added to the café. Through her business networks, Lieber was able to get a Brondell Pro Sanitizing Air Purifier with AG+ Technology. The system is built for smaller spaces, making it ideal for use in homes and businesses.

And according to Liebers, it’s easy to install and use.

“The Brondell is the perfect win-win for Sweet Mimi’s,” she said. “It’s small and sleek and pretty. It’s so streamlined and easy to operate.”

What makes the Brondell air purifier so noteworthy is that it doesn’t just trap coronavirus particles in its filtration system - it kills them within 15 minutes. Liebers says that knowledge is a breath of fresh air to her and her staff at Sweet Mimi’s.

“We feel really safe breathing clean air, and we hope our customers will feel clean and safe,” she said. “It sounds corny, but we all breathe a little easier when we’re here and it’s turned on.”

The Brondell Pro Sanitizing Air Purifier with AG+ Technology is currently available for public purchase. For more information or to place an order, visit www.brondell.com.

Sweet Mimi’s reopening with the acquisition of its new Brondell purifier comes at a very convenient time. Starting next week, New York State has approved businesses to increase to 75% indoor capacity. Liebers says she is looking forward to having more customers back in the café, and hopes they will feel safe knowing the Brondell purifier is giving them clean air to breathe.

“It’ll be a little bit of a conversation piece,” Liebers said. “COVID changed the way we do everything. Before, we used to do whatever it took to keep our customers happy. Now, the way I do business, I’m doing everything to keep my customers safe - and my staff.”

Keeping her customers safe started long before she got her new air purifier. After one of the business’s shutdowns, she decided to switch to a to-go only system to keep the café open while keeping customers safe. It worked so well that it turned into a second, separate business model.

“Customers got so used to doing to-go, that I’m going to keep that for them,” Liebers said. “So now we’ve got the to-go model, and the dine-in model.”

Liebers is looking forward to the spring season at Sweet Mimi’s, and she hopes her customers are too.

“We have such a greater appreciation for the Saratoga community, the friends of Sweet Mimi’s, and the tourists,” said Liebers. “We’re so grateful. The pandemic has given me time to develop some new recipes, we’ve got a new baker and a new chef on staff, and a new beautiful inside. I think this is going to be our best year ever.

“We’re on the rebound. The outpouring of support from our customers has been so uplifting. We’re really excited to be back in business.”
