Bisaillon has a hat trick as Mechanicville defeats Tamarac 6-1

TROY, NY » Tamarac did something that no other team had done to this point in the Fall 2 boy’s soccer season. They scored a goal against Mechanicville.

It didn’t make too much of a difference though, as the Red Raiders came away with the 6-1 victory on Friday afternoon.

“We have a lot of chemistry on this team and we work really well together,” said Mechanicville senior TJ Bisaillon, who would go on to score three goals in the second half.

Colin McNutt got the Red Raiders started with a goal early, on a cross over the middle. Ryan Grimmick would add on their second on a shot from way outside the 18 near the right sideline into the top left corner of the goal.

McNutt scored his second goal of the afternoon just before the end of the first half as he came up the middle and put up a shot from outside the 18 into the top left cor

ner, giving Mechanicville a 3-0 lead.

Bisaillon would get going in the second half, though he even admitted that luck was on his side on some of his shots on goal.

“I think I had a little bit of luck on my goals today,” he said. “But we played well as a team and still came away with the 6-1 win.”

Bisaillon first goal came on a hard grounder he kicked to the bottom left corner, just getting beneath the dive of Bengal’s keeper Sean Burdick. Bisaillon got a bounce to go his was on his second goal. After Burdick made a dive at a deep shot attempt from outside the 18, up the middle, the ball bounced over the dive and into the net.

Bisaillon acknowledged that it took the Red Raiders some time getting used to playing on grass again, but in the case of his goal, he benefited.

“We’re so used to the turf, so it took awhile to get used to the bounces on the grass and I think that made a big difference in the way we started out the game today,” he said.

Going into the game, Mechanicville had not allowed any goals to be scored against them. Tamarac’s Adam Fountain changed that last in the second half. After a Bengals’ shot attempt off the crossbar that Mechanicville keeper Glenn Prairie couldn’t hold, Fountain hit it in to end the Red Raider’s shutout streak to begin the season.

“I would just say that our defense has been really dominant, really killing it on that side of the ball and I don’t see us slowing down anytime soon,” Bisaillon said. “We’re hoping not to allow any more the rest of the way.”

To Tamarac’s credit, who had been undefeated entering the match and is one of the better teams in the Wasaren League, they held Mechanicville to under ten goals, something no other team has done this season either.

Both teams are schedule to play their next games on April 13 at 5 p.m. The Red Raiders will host Waterford and the Bengals will travel to Greenwich.
