‘Going Places’ new theme for Albany International Airport
ALBANY, N.Y. » Albany International Airport is rebranding with a new theme of “Going Places.”
The initiative features a new airport logo, improved terminal signage and a new and updated website to assist travelers selecting their flights and provide upto-the-minute flight status and flight tracking.
The new airport theme coincides with the creation of the new Airport Master Plan that will establish a working document to guide the Albany County Airport Authority through the future expansion of the terminal, the development of new cargo services, expansion of private aircraft facilities and services, and the growth of commercial development of airport property
“The COVID-19 Pandemic has given us a generational opportunity to thoroughly redesign our facilities and create the ‘Smart Airport’ of the future with connected technologies that will better serve and protect the flying public, our airlines and employees in a post-pandemic environment,” Airport Authority CEO Philip Calderone said in a press release. “In partnership with the State of New York, we have recently completed over $60 million in Airport improvements. These refinements along with our partnership with GE Global Research and GE Aviation as a digital incubator for new technologies have helped brand our airport as first in class. The traveling public will continue to witness the Going Places evolution during the next 12 months and beyond as air travel increases and as plans for our ‘new’ airport develop.”
Among the most visible changes in place or to be rolledout during 2021 are a new website, 1,000-car parking garage, Northway Exit 3 to Albany International Airport, General Electric Wellness App, new “Going Places” logo and signage, increased air filtration, redesigned food court and restrooms, terminal upgrades, additional personal sanitizing stations, UV smart phone sanitizers, UV escalators, touchless elevators, upgraded passenger lounges and New York State Writers Institute Reading Room, expanded TSA security checkpoint, a new observation deck art gallery and a SUNY Upstate/Quadrant Biosciences COVID-19 Test Kit Kiosk.
The Albany International Airport’s new road map to the future will be detailed in the Master Plan that will serve as the blueprint for the airport’s growth and expansion. A number of programs and features will be considered including new cargo facilities, expanded space and opportunities for corporate and private aircraft and tenants, additional terminal gates and space for new airlines.
