Porsche Macan GTS a dream drive

- By Marc Grasso MediaNews Group

I know, I know, not everyone can afford a Porsche, heck some people have never even seen one, but to experience driving one is a dream come true. This affordable compact SUV is a new chart-topper for the Grasso’s Garage stable.

In this week’s review, we enjoy Porsche’s 2021 Macan GTS. In Mamba Green metallic, potentially my new favorite color, for its vibrant take-offs, this fun-loving SUV is a driver’s dream. It sits low to the ground, with its ride height adjuster setting, for easy entrance and departure of the vehicle. Although rear seating room is slightly smaller than its big brother and our recently tested Cayenne, it fits passengers snugly but just well enough to enjoy the ride.

With an energetic 2.9 liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, our GTS produced 375 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Slip this Mamba in Sport Plus mode and enjoy the throaty sound of the exhaust and increased throttle response. Our GTS came in at 4.5 seconds from zero-to-60 and topped out at 162 mph.

If you are familiar with Porsche, you know there is a huge array of options. Similar to Stellantis, Porsche wants you to not only enjoy your vehicle, but make it your own so it can be exclusive to you.

Our Macan GTS came equipped with the Premium Package plus, including Bose Surround Sound, auto-dimming mirrors, front heated and ventilated seats, panoramic roof and Apple CarPlay. Also, a heated GT sport steering wheel and Porsche Torque

Vectoring Plus.

Additionally, what really stood out for me was the endless color options. As mentioned before, our Mamba Green Metallic was different but Porsche has so many different color options that this is just another advantage for the brand and one we love. Standard on our GTS were red brake calipers, leather/ race-tex interior, brushed aluminum interior accoutrements and the sports exhaust system with black tips.

As Porsche continues to rebrand itself from the original, exclusive sports car market, we recognize its ability to perform in the SUV market with Cayenne and now the Macan. I am very impressed with what they have done to stay competitive and now, in my opinion, be a remarkable option for SUV consumers nationwide.

With a base price just over $70,000 the Macan GTS really signified a few things for me. Its ability to create a powerhouse SUV, that still rides low to the ground similar to that of a sedan, while having enough storage room of an SUV. Its significant sloped rear hatch was also appealing as it proves Porsche stance on increased storage without compromising visibility.

?? MARC GRASSO — MEDIANEWS GROUP ?? The Porsche Macan GTS, yes that’s an SUV, provides the roominess of an SUV with the ground-level ride of a sedan, and with a powerful 2.9liter twin-turbo V-6engine with 375horsepower, you’re good to go.
