GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. » The Village of Green Island celebrated the grand opening of One OAK Atelier hair salon at their new Starbuck Island location at 10 Starbuck Drive, Suite 201. The salon marks the first business to open at the new Starbuck Island development. On hand for the festivities were owners Lilly Miller, Amanda Conrad, Jenn Shea, as well as elected officials.

Miller was filled with joy to see the salon finally come to fruition.

“It’s incredible. It’s better than even dreamed it would be. A lot of time, effort, blood, sweat, tears, went into it and we couldn’t have done it without the entire Luizzi Company team,” Miller commented on all of the hard work to bring everything together.

“We’re happy walking into work every day. This is our happy place now,” Miller exclaimed on the new digs.

Village of Green Island Mayor Ellen M. McNultyRyan also welcomed the three owners to Starbuck Island.

“We are delighted to welcome Lilly, Amanda, Jenn, and their team to Green Island. Young professionals who chose to invest in our community are what make our future prosperity promising and solid,” McNultyRyan commented.

Chuck Pafundi, Project Manager/Head of Real Estate Development for Luizzi Construction Services, detailed the hard work thought process from Miller, Conrad, and Shea that went into the project design for the salon.

“If you saw the plans when we first started this place, it looked nothing like this, right. So, it’s the epitome of a custom construction designbuild and they didn’t hire an interior designer, they did it all themselves and a lot of hard work, lots of meetings, lots of changes but I think it came out beautiful,” Pafundi remarked.

Even on a gloomy day outside, the natural light coming through the windows also added a nice touch.

“It’s so nice to look outside and see the gorgeous landscaping and the tenants have been so great, they’ve been coming in and checking it out. We couldn’t have picked a better spot,” Miller noted.

Miller also commented on the interest they’re received from new clients already booking appointments.

“It’s more even than we had even hoped for. We’ve been slammed just in our first two weeks of being open, so that’s incredible. I think at this point it’s just getting the staff in here to be able to handle it all,” Miller said.

“Currently, we have 12 stylists, so we’re looking for a few more. We’re pretty well fully but we could always use more, so I think that’s our next goal is to fill it up,” Miller added on looking to bring on more stylists.

Additionally, Miller detailed some of the services they’re offering at the salon.

“For the barbering side we do hot towel shaves, we do full barbering services. For the ladies side, we do smoothing treatments, coloring, cutting, extensions, we do scalp facials. For our aesthetics, we’re working on getting our tattoo permit so we can offer microblading, but for right now we offer aesthetics, so basic facials, body wraps, things like that,” Miller added.

The new salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The salon will be closed on Sunday and Monday. The telephone number for the salon is 518-238-3349 or email oneoakatelier@gmail.com.
