Wednesday, Sept. 1 EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM HELP:

Please join us at the Troy Public Library, Wednesdays, Aug. 18, 25 & Sept. 1, 1-4:00 pm If you are interested in the New York State Emergency Rental Assistance program, Symone Wango of the Legal Aid Society of Northeaste­rn New York will be at the Troy Public Library to answer your questions and provide assistance. The Emergency Rental Assistance Program assists households behind on their rent that have experience­d financial hardship due to COVID-19 and are at risk of homelessne­ss or housing instabilit­y. In addition, the program can provide temporary rental assistance and assistance with unpaid utility bills. This assistance can pay up to 12 months of past due rent and for some households, pay up to 3 months for future rent. The program can also pay for up to 12 months of overdue electric or gas bills. Please note, payments will always be issued directly to the landlord or utility provider. This program is free and open to the public. After an eightweek winter inaugural season indoors in Lansingbur­gh, Make It Up State, a local business developmen­t organizati­on, has moved outdoors to celebrate warmer weather along the Hudson River and local, regional producers of goods, food, music, art, and more. The Make It Up State Riverfront Marketplac­e will run every Sunday from 9am — 2pm in Troy’s Riverfront Park through mid-October, excluding July 4th. Saturday, Sept. 11 9⁄11 CEREMONY OF REMEMBRANC­E:

At 10 am on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, located at 200Duell Rd. in Schuylervi­lle will host a ceremony in remembranc­e of the attack on Sept., 11 2011. This event is to honor the victims of that day, as well as those who have lost their lives in the years since due to health issues from working on the rescue and recovery efforts. We also honor those who served in the military and made the ultimate sacrifice. Several of these men and women are interred in this cemetery. HISTORICAL TOURS: On September 11, 2021 the Lansingbur­gh Historical Society will open the Melville House for tours from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We will also have a display of artifacts from the Boradaile which was the country residence, high on the hill overlookin­g Lansingbur­gh, of George W. Daws. The cost was over $100,000 back in 1887. (Perhaps $2.5 million in 2017 dollars) Also present to answer questions will be Helen Mancuso. Mrs. Mancuso is the daughter of the owners of the Boradaile when it was a beautiful, elegant restaurant. REPTILE EXPO: The Saratoga Reptile Expo is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Saratoga Springs City Center. The expo will offer its largest selection of animals and supplies to date. More than 130 vendor tables will be set up, including about 60 breeders from all over the East Coast selling captive bred and long-term captive reptiles, amphibians, small exotic mammals, invertebra­tes (primarily arachnids, mantids, and leaf bugs), and feeders, as well as enclosures and care items for these animals. An education room will feature hands-on learning opportunit­ies with zoologists and profession­al educators. Here, guest speakers will give presentati­ons on various topics throughout the day. Presale tickets are being sold in hourly blocks to restrict the crowd to 50% of the capacity of the venue. Limited tickets may be available for sale at the door in accordance with Department of Health guidelines as of the day of the event. However, anyone interested in attending is encouraged to preorder tickets. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages six to 13, and admission for children age five and younger is free.

HISTORY PRESENTATI­ON: The Saratoga County History Roundtable will offer a presentati­on by Russ VanDervoor­t, Waterford Town Historian, at Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa on Thursday September 16 at 7:00PM. Russ will tell the story of a 150year old murder for hire plot that a newspaper called “The Most Damnable Murder Plot ever Ventilated!”, an event that unfolded in 1870-1871 that involved participan­ts from throughout Saratoga County.
