McCoy announces vaccine clinics at Cohoes city schools

COHOES, N.Y. » Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy is partnering with the Cohoes City Central School District highlighting the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccine at clinics being hosted at the Cohoes schools on Friday, Oct. 15.

The first pop up clinic will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the cafeteria of the Cohoes Middle School 7 Bevan St, Cohoes, NY, and that will be followed by another POD from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Cohoes High School’s old gymnasium at 1 Tiger Circle, Cohoes, NY.

“Vaccination equity is critical piece to beating COVID for good, and we

continue to monitor vaccination rates for zip codes across the county. But unfortunately, despite Albany County having a solid first

dose vaccination rate of nearly 72%, the City of Cohoes has been lagging behind somewhat at around 63%,” McCoy said.

“This is why we’re bringing vaccines directly to our residents to make it as easy as possible, especially for our younger people who we want to make sure are safe as they get back into the routine of in-person learning,” McCoy explained.

“The Cohoes City School District would like to thank Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and our local partners, including Assemblyman John McDonald, for the opportunity to help increase vaccination rates among our students. Students who are vaccinated are less likely to be subjected to quarantine protocols, and we know that being in school is essential as we work to equip our students with future-ready knowledge and skills,”

Cohoes Superintendent of Schools Peggy O’Shea added.

Students will be required to bring a completed form with a parent or guardian signature to the vaccine clinic in order to receive a shot. Those forms can be found at the school’s main office, through Parent Square or at the link here.

For those who are not able to attend the vaccination clinics at Cohoes City Schools because of scheduling conflicts, Albany County continues to host POD’s every day of the week throughout the area, including at the upcoming Fall Fest at Lawson Lake and at the Albany County Department of Health in Albany.
