Women’s Business Council announces 2022 and 2023 adopted nonprofits
ALBANY, N.Y. » The Women’s Business Council (WBC) of the Capital Region Chamber recently announced its Adopted Nonprofits for 2022 (Veterans & Community Housing Coalition) and 2023 (Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York). The nonprofits were chosen from a pool of 20 worthy organizations.
The Veterans & Community Housing Coalition operates the only Veterans Administration funded transitional supportive housing program for homeless female veterans in New York State. In addition, homeless female, disabled veterans receive assistance with their housing and case management needs in other Coalition programs. Recognizing a gap in services for homeless veteran moms and their children, the Coalition has initiated a grassroots effort to develop a housing project with support services for this targeted population.
The Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York works to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. It provides care and support services, including free educational programs to provide knowledge and practical tips for understanding and caring for persons with Alzheimer’s Disease; 24 support groups throughout the region; care consultations or personalized sessions for families with staff to help them better understand the disease process and develop an action plan for the future; and a 24/7 helpline for families to receive information, education and support.
Throughout 2022 and 2023, the WBC will raise money for each year’s respective Adopted Nonprofits at its monthly programs and its signature events, along with WBC Holiday Fundraiser in December. The Adopted Nonprofits and the WBC will collaborate during the year on other opportunities to generate donations.
