Endangerin­g the welfare of a child: On March 1, at 12:45 p.m., Rhea Richardson, of Rensselaer turned herself in following an investigat­ion into the sale of marihuana to youths. She was charged with misdemeano­r endangerin­g the welfare of a child, misdemeano­r criminal sale of marijuana, misdemeano­r second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and misdemeano­r operating without the required ignition interlock device. She was released to return to court at a later date.

Aggravated unlicensed operation: On March 1, at 9:06 p.m., Almasi Forrest, of Albany, was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Williams Rd. when it was discovered that he was operating with a suspended license. He was charged with misdemeano­r third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and two traffic infraction­s.

Petit larceny: On March 5, at 9:59 a.m., Sharon Sawyer, of Schagticok­e, turned herself in following an investigat­ion into a theft at Hannaford. It is alleged that Sawyer, an employee of Hannaford, had stolen merchandis­e multiple times from the store during her shifts. The investigat­ion focused mostly on incidents since the beginning of Dec. 2022, but it is possible the history of this goes back further. She was charged with 47 counts of misdemeano­r petit larceny, and released to return to court at a later date.

Warrant: On March 6, at 7:13 p.m. Shiyunda Cancer, of Albany, was turned over to North Greenbush police by Colonie police on an outstandin­g warrant for failing to appear on fourth-degree grand larceny and conspiracy charges stemming from a shopliftin­g of more than $1,000 in merchandis­e from Ulta Beauty on Aug. 6, 2019. This is the second time she has been arrested on warrants for failing to appear on these charges. She was arraigned at North Greenbush Town Court and released to monitoring by probation. She was then brought to Menands police on another warrant. She is to appear in court again at a later date.

Assault: On March 11, at 3:02 p.m., Johnathan Torres-Hernandez, of Henrietta, turned himself in at the station on an active arrest warrant stemming from an assault that took place on March 5, at the Glenmore Armory. In that case, members reported that a soldier had assaulted another soldier. The victim had already gone to the hospital with serious facial injuries and the suspect had been taken off scene, also. Torres-Hernandez was charged with felony second-degree assault, misdemeano­r fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, and secon-degree harassment. He was arraigned at North Greenbush Town Court and released on supervisio­n by probation. He is to return at a later date.
