Zack Matava, Raymond Campbell selected for national children’s choir
TORRINGTON » Fifth-grade students, Zack Matava of Vogel-Wetmore School and Raymond Campbell of Southwest School, were recently selected as two of approximately 160 talented elementary students from across the United States to participate in the OAKE National Children’s Choir, in a performance which will be featured at the organization’s 41st annual National Conference held in Minneapolis, MN, March 19-21.
The students will travel to Minneapolis for a fourday intensive rehearsal schedule and will work under the direction of conductor Sandy Knudson. The singers will perform the culminating concert at Benson Great Hall at Bethel University on Saturday, March 21 at 7 p.m.
The list of guest professionals participating in the 2015 OAKE National Conference includes a keynote address by composer Libby Larsen and mini-conference session lead by Fernando Malvar-Ruiz of the American Boychoir.
The opening concert will be performed by The Rose Ensemble and Friday night entertainment will be provided by VocalEssence Ensemble Singers.
