DRUMMING FOR PEACE: Full Moon Drumming for Peace is held monthly at the Goshen Congregational Church, Routes 4 and 63 at the rotary in Goshen, joining an international drumming event where people in each time zone drum for peace at sunset on the night of the full moon. Drummers may bring their own drums and rhythm instruments or they can use the drums and instruments provided. Drumming starts at sunset and runs for about an hour. SCHOOLHOUSE OPEN: The Barkhamsted Historical Society’s one room schoolhouse, the old Center School on Center Hill Road (Route 181) in Barkhamsted, will be open to the public this summer, 1-4 p.m. Aug. 30 and Sept. 27. Come and find out what school was like in “the old days.” Ask questions; read the old books; review a high school entrance exam; try your hand at various toys and games, or do some arithmetic problems on a slate. Raffle tickets for $3 each will be on sale at the Harwinton Fair and from members during September and October.
