Theater leads arts program at St. Peter/St. Francis School
Thanks to a grant from the David, Helen and Marian Woodward Fund, Watertown Committee, the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education will lead a literacy-based performing arts program for the students of St. Peter/St. Francis School in Torrington.
The scope of this partnership program will explore the dramatic arts through classic children’s literature, providing the students of St. Peter/St. Francis School the opportunity to participate in a multi-layered curriculum of acting, improvisation, character building, role play, conflict resolution, music appreciation, movement and more.
The program curriculum will also center around the themes and artistic disciplines showcased within the Warner’s 2015-16 Daytime Performance Series, giving every St. Peter/ St. Francis School student the chance to attend a daytime performance production at the Warner Theatre as part of this program.
“This is an amazing opportunity for the students of St. Peter/ St. Francis School,” said principal Jo-Anne Gauger. “We sincerely thank the David, Helen and Marian Woodward Fund, Watertown Committee for their generous grant. Our students will benefit immensely from the art and literacy activities they will experience at the Warner Theatre. Attending daytime performances will be the culmination of the program. The students will witness the talents and gifts of the performers.”
