Nature center offers after-school programs
WOODBURY >> From exploring the world outdoors to having fun on the farm or interpreting nature in art, children will learn more about the natural world in an after-school program, being held each Wednesday at Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Beat after school boredom and make Wednesdays their favorite day of the week! Flanders “Wonderful Wednesday” after school program will give kids ages 5 to 10 the chance to explore Flanders’ 200-acre campus, be active and have a blast all while connecting to science, nature, farming and art!
The program goes from 2:45-5:30 p.m. Parents can provide their own transportation or bus transportation to Flanders is also available from Bethlehem and Mitchell Elementary Schools.
Cost per class for Bethlehem students is $20 and Mitchell Elementary school students $15; Extended care until 6 p.m. is available for an additional fee. Timing and costs may vary for early dismissal days.
Flanders’ Education Coordinator/Farm Manager, Dianne Parmalee notes, “Our sessions are much more than typical after-school programs. We emphasize environmental education in everything we do and provide lots of opportunities for kids to get moving outdoors.”
Registrations are also starting for fall preschool programs for kids ages 3 to 5 including “Farm school” and story time both which are held monthly.
