SCHOOLHOUS­E OPEN: The Barkhamste­d Historical Society’s one room schoolhous­e, the old Center School on Center Hill Road (Route 181) in Barkhamste­d, will be open to the public this summer, 1-4 p.m. today and Sept. 27. Come and find out what school was like in “the old days.” Ask questions; read the old books; review a high school entrance exam; try your hand at various toys and games, or do some arithmetic problems on a slate. QUILT ON DISPLAY: The Harwinton Woman’s Club’s 38th annual quilt, Silhouette­s And Light, is on display at the Harwinton Public Library. The original, handembroi­dered, hand-appliqued and hand quilted project for 2015 will be on display at the Harwinton Branch of the Thomaston Savings Bank through September. Raffle tickets for $3 each will be on sale at the Harwinton Fair and from members during September and October.
