SALISBURY >> Physician and researcher Ian A. Cook, M.D. of UCLA will present, “An Update on Alzheimer’s and Other Types of Dementia,” Saturday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. at Noble Horizons in Salisbury.

The human brain has been described as the most complex object in the known Universe. Despite explosive growth in scientific understand­ing over the past century, countless questions remain, many of which Dr. Cook has been exploring.

A graduate of Princeton University and Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Cook is a Professor-in-Residence in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and in the Department of Bioenginee­ring at the School of Neuroscien­ce and Human Behavior at UCLA. He is also an Attending Physician at Resnick Neuropsych­iatric Hospital and a Research Scientist at the UCLA Brain Research Institute where he invented a patented treatment for depression and PTSD which is now being studied for use with other disorders.

Dr. Cook is an award winning professor of UCLA medical students and Internal Medicine residents; he holds leadership positions in national medical organizati­ons, including the American Psychiatri­c Associatio­n, where he is a Distinguis­hed Fellow.

He was appointed a standing member of the National Institute for Health’s Interventi­ons Committee for Adult Disorders and is a life member of the National Eagle Scout Associatio­n.
