Hunt Library to hold birthday potluck
FALLS VILLAGE >> A birthday potluck for the David M. Hunt Library will be held Sunday, August 21, 2-5 p.m. at Grassy Hill Farm, across the street from the David M. Hunt Library, 63 Main Street, Falls Village.
The library will be celebrated for 125 years of service to Falls Village and surrounding communities in the Berkshires with an open air potluck birthday picnic, “Party Like It’s 1891!” This free, family-friendly no-alcohol event will take place at Grassy Hill Farm, across the street from the library (at 63 Main Street) in Falls Village. All are welcome. In good 1891 tradition, everyone should bring a dish to share and blankets or chairs for picnicking. Parking is available at Kellogg School, the Congregational Church, and the library. This event is not wheelchair accessible. For information and to RSVP, contact the library at 860-8247424, dmhuntlibrary@gmail.com or visit huntlibrary.org.
Richard and Mary Lanier, the current owners of Grassy Hill Farm and the hosts of the party, look forward to welcoming the community to join the library’s celebration in their field which looks up at the library’s historical Victorian façade. In 1891, Reverend Henry Mead, an early resident of Grassy Hill Farm and also a founding member of the library and co-author of its bylaws, was able to watch the daily progress of construction of the library from the very site where the birthday picnic will take place.
