Magic, mirth and a meal in Torrington
Magician Adam Parisi to perform Aug. 27
A magical event is lined up for Torrington on Saturday night in the Ritz Crystal Room at Remember When, as the Desultory Theatre Club presents “An evening of Magic, Mirth and a Meal with Magician Adam Parisi.” The evening begins at 6:30 p.m.
Parisi is a world class, sleight-of-hand magician and stand-up comic who combines his comedy and the art of illusion to craft a unique show, tailor-made for his audience. A proud member of the Society of American Magicians (S.A.M) assembly 127, Parisi is regarded as one of New England’s top card magicians, and performs most regularly in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
Artistic director of the Desultory Theatre Club Keith Paul is excited to present Parisi’s performance at Remember When. Parisi has participated in five other variety shows and performances with the group however this Saturday’s event will mark his first solo Desultory show.
“Adam is such a professional and talented person and his performances are always a wonderful addition to the many variety shows that the Desultory Theatre Club has created,” Paul said. “It was definitely about time that we gave him his own show.”
For his part, Parisi couldn’t agree more. “I have been privileged to be part of the cabaret and variety shows that Desultory Theater Club has organized,” he said. “The shows are always so varied with the most unique and amazing venues.”
In Connecticut, Parisi often performs in Oxford, and he is looking forward to bringing his unique brand of entertainment to a Torrington audience.
Learning and performing the art of illusion for over a decade, Parisi’s love of cards and the elements of card illusions have been a life-long pursuit.
“Magic came later for me in life,” he said, “but card effects ... has been something I’ve been fascinated (with) and practicing
since I was 8, almost 25 years.”
Included in the ticket price is a three-course meal provided by Remember When, which accompanies the evening’s magic and mirth.
Paul describes the Ritz Crystal Room as the perfect venue for shows of this size.
“Karen and Rit, the owners of Remember When, are wonderful hosts, and they totally get the DTC (Desultory Theatre Club) format,” Paul said. “And we love to bring attention to real venues that put some thought into originality. I am looking forward to producing more shows there in the future.”
The event is for adults only (21 and older) and tickets are $50 per person, which includes tax and gratuity. Seating is limited, and tickets are only available for purchase at Remember When, 111 Main Street, Torrington. For information, call 860-4891566. Every seat has a great view of the show.
