Eagle Scout project: Antolini Trail upgrades
Jordan S. Rhoads earns top Boy Scout rank, enlists help from town, Troop 4, friends
NEW HARTFORD >> Jordan S. Rhoads, son of Paul Rhoads of New Hartford and Shelli Rhoads of Goshen, has achieved the Boy Scout highest rank, that of Eagle Scout.
Jordan is a member of Boy Scout Troop 4 in Torrington under the leadership of Scoutmaster, Wilbert Boles, Assistant Scoutmaster, Bruce Magyer & Geoff Smith and Troop Committee Chairman, David Torlai.
Jordan began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub with Pack 25 and continued through Cub Scouting to achieve the highest award, the Arrow of Light. He has earned 29 merit badges and attended summer camp at Camp Workcoeman in New Hartford for many years.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project, he worked with New Hartford’s First Selectman Daniel Jerram to establish a project plan. Jordan then led a work crew to build a fence for the parking lot, blaze the walking trail, and build a foot bridge on the Antolini Trail located on East Cotton Hill Road in New Hartford. With his great leadership skills and crew of dedicated friends and family, they finished the project in the July summer heat. A total of 163 combined hours were spent on the project.
Jordan graduated from Wamogo Regional High School in June. He will be attending Porter & Chester Technical School in October to pursue a career in 3D Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
Special thanks to everyone who helped make this rank possible for Jordan: his parents, Paul and Shelli Rhoads; grandparents, Harry and Joyce Knox; his uncle, Dan Rhoads; brother, Devin Rhoads, and good friends Michaela McNutt, Patrick Silver, Zach Hovey, Matthew Kusaila, Logan King, Kevin Maeder & Black Lab Luci.
Jordan would also like to thank Dan Jerram and the Town of New Hartford for providing their cooperation and assistance to make this project possible.
