See ‘Eleemosynary’ this weekend in Torrington
TORRINGTON >> The Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education (WTCAE) will present the sensitive and masterful play, Eleemosynary, in the Warner’s Nancy Marine Studio Theatre, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28-30.
Directed by professional theatre veteran Will Osborne and starring Warner Theatre Director of Education Isabel Carrington, alumna Emily Creighton, and local favorite Sarah Tames, the play is a multigenerational character study that explores the delicate – and often difficult — relationships between three generations of women from an eccentric and extraordinary family.
The title of the play comes from a word rarely heard outside of spelling bees that means “of, related to, or supported by charity.”
During the course of the play, the three characters – strong willed, eccentric grandmother, Dorothea; her estranged, brilliant daughter, Artie; and Artie’s intellectually gifted daughter, Echo — struggle to find a charitable way to relate to one another and bridge many years of alienation and estrangement.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 860-489-7180 or online at warnertheatre.org
Proceeds from each performance will benefit the Warner Theatre Center for Arts Education’s enrichment programs.
