There’s just a week to go before state tournaments begin in boys and girls soccer, field hockey and girls volleyball. Here’s a look at area teams standings for qualification (40 percent wins) and important games left to play.
Boys Soccer Naugatuck Valley League
In: Torrington (11-4-1) begins NVL tournament play Saturday.
Berkshire League
In: Lewis Mills (13-1); Nonnewaug (14-0); Terryville (7-5-2); Wamogo. Mills plays Nonnewaug Tuesday for a chance at a share of the BL title.
Bubble: Housatonic (5-8-1) has to win remaining games against Litchfield and Terryville today and Tuesday. Northwestern (7-7) must win or tie against either Thomaston or Gilbert today or Tuesday. Thomaston (7-7) must beat or tie Northwestern or Wamogo today or Tuesday.
Out: Gilbert (0-14); Litchfield (211-1); Shepaug (3-9-2).
Constitution State League
In: Wolcott Tech (7-8-1) begins CSC Tournament play next week.
Girls Soccer Naugatuck Valley League
Out: Torrington (4-12) has finished its season.
Berkshire League
In: Housatonic (11-3); Lewis Mills (12-2); Nonnewaug (13-0-1); Terryville (9-5). Nonnewaug can clinch the BL title with a win over Wamogo today.
Bubble: Litchfield (7-7) needs a win or a tie against Housatonic or Shepaug today or Tuesday. Northwestern (6-7-1) must beat Thomaston or Gilbert today or Tuesday.
Out: Gilbert (1-12-1); Shepaug (3-9-2); Thomaston (310-1); Wamogo (2-12).
Constitution State League
Bubble: Wolcott Tech (6-7-1) added a game to its schedule, so it needs a win or tie against Norwich Tech/Holy Family or Putnam today or Tuesday.
Field Hockey Berkshire League
In: Lewis Mills (10-3-1-2); Nonnewaug (13-1-1); Northwestern (7-3-3-1); Shepaug (6-7-1); Thomaston 7-3-31); Wamogo (5-5-4). Nonnewaug is the Berkshire League champion.
Out: Housatonic (0-14-01); Litchfield 3-10-1).
Girls Volleyball Naugatuck Valley League
In: Torrington (19-1) is the No. 1 seed in the NVL Tournament. The Red Raiders will host No. 8 St. Paul at Torrington High School at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Berkshrie League
In: Lewis Mills (11-6); Nonnewaug (8-7); Northwestern (14-2). Nonnewaug is the Berkshire League champion. The top four teams meet in the BL Tournament next Friday.
Bubble: Housatonic (7-9) needs a win against Northwestern or Gilbert today or Tuesday.
Out: Gilbert (6-11); Terryville (4-9).
