Library announces spring book discussion series

KENT >> The spring book discussion series at Kent Memorial Library will begin ate March. The 2017 program will touch on the founding fathers, who announced it was “self-evident that all men are created equal…” and have “unalienable Rights….”

The four books on the KML Spring Book Discussion list tell stories of how this proclamation played out across the continent and across centuries.

What were the struggles over these supposedly “selfevident” truths? Who were the winner and losers in these struggles? What is our inheritance from the disparity between dream and reality? Four novelists tell stories of different peoples from different parts of the country in narratives spanning three centuries.

The Kent Memorial Library Book Discussion Group meets once a month on Thursdays from 5-6:15 p.m. in the Reading Room. The meetings are free and open to the public. The Library makes every effort to supply books, but requests that people sign up for the meetings so that they know how many copies to order. Please call the Library to register at 860.927.3761.

Discussion is conducted by Betty Krasne, PhD, writer, professor emerita, and long time Kent resident. Betty Krasne, Ph.D., a writer and retired professor of literature who lives in Kent, leads the discussions.
