Student jazz bands to perform in Norfolk March 26
NORFOLK >> Litchfield High School and Torrington High School Jazz Ensembles are performing in the Southern New England High School Jazz Festival at the historic Infinity Hall in Norfolk on Sunday, March 26 at 7 p.m.
Built in 1883 in picturesque Norfolk in northwest Connecticut, Infinity Hall is an intimate music, dining and entertainment destination that offers a wide array of performances by musicians from around the country.
The Litchfield High School Jazz Band is an active honors ensemble that performs at several annual concerts, community events, and festivals. The band studies and performs repertoire from a variety of genres; from traditional swing charts to gospel and funk. The LHS Jazz Combo, which has been hired to perform at several local businesses and community events this year, will also perform a short set. Litchfield High School Jazz is under the direction of Dan Porri.
The LHS Jazz Band is joining the Torrington High School Jazz Ensemble at the festival. The Torrington High School Jazz Ensemble has received numerous Gold Medals, 1st Place, and Superior Ratings, Outstanding Section and Outstanding Soloists awards over the years. THS has opened for the United States Air Force “Airmen of Note” and United States Navy “Next Wave” Jazz Ensembles. Torrington High School Jazz is under the direction of Wayne Splettstoeszer.
